how to do the task that you are not familiar with?

I want to rant. I really-really want to rant coz I am very much disappointed with a lot of things lately. But this time, I try to say it in a positive way as possible.

Let’s see. How you do usually deal with your frustrations? Will that thing make you angry or will you try to see the other side of the story.

For example, in a group of two, you were asked to finish a certain task. Let’s say filing and sorting of all the documents. You are not so familiar with the thing that you are asked to do but you know that your partner knows it. What will you do?

First, listen to the instructions given by the boss carefully.

Next, browse the files. And pretend that you are doing something or you are trying to figure out what to do.

Then, wait for the boss to go out from the room. When his already out of the room, disappear as well and leave your partner alone inside the room.

Go back to your work station. Pretend that you doing something urgent.

From time to time, check if the work is already done by your partner. Help a little. Then, leave the room again.

After around 30 minutes, viola! Work well done! ………. by your partner, of course. What a ?@?@?@?@?!

Very nice technique, isn’t it?

Actually, I was the victim in that said scenario. And that is how I interpret the way my partner treated me. I just got lucky because my boss know me well because he was my supervisor since I started working here in this office.

those kind of situations are very frustrating.
the first thing i normally do when given a project is to divide the task, say, partner will take care filing/sorting from A to K, and mine would be L to Z.
nice to hear you're staying positive about it.

yes, unfortunately there are people like in the workplace. in our case, there was this team lead who liked to grab the credit by placing her name (only) -- without actually doing a single thing -- when the report is submitted. needless to say, she was heartily disliked by the whole team and we all sighed in huge relief when she finally left. it was tough to get through that, but things get better in hindsight. i hope things turn out well for you (eventually)

i hope you feel much better now. it's annoying indeed, but i think in every workplace, there will always be people who will take advantage of you. :)

It would definitely piss me off if I were in your shoes. But never mind, you have the credit. Your boss knows that.
